In 2009 Elmwood Strategies discovered a hidden source of capital that cut millions of dollars in operations costs for one of our clients. The client, a renewable energy company with an energy-intensive manufacturing process, was allocated five megawatts of low-cost hydropower to encourage the construction and operation of a $200 million manufacturing plant. For the client, low-cost electricity is vital for cost-management and the allocation keeps the company globally competitive. The discounted hydropower allotment we exposed was also what attracted our client to consider investing in the region and resulted in partnership with state and local governments for building a solar panel manufacturing facility. This partnership brings the client to an optimal location in proximity to the region's fast growing markets as well as advancing the growth of the clean energy sector and stimulating the economy of that state.

Successes have included and education campaign that resulted in legislation being introduced by a member of House leadership.
